Federal and cantonal legislation requires large-scale consumers to optimise their energy consumption as part of their economic obligations. Large-scale consumers are companies with an annual heating requirement of more than 5 GWh or an electricity consumption of more than 500 MWh. These regulations are set out in the Swiss Federal Energy Act (Art. 46 para. 3 letter c).
In this context, Hawle Armaturen AG already took significant measures in 2021 to optimises its energy consumption and reduce CO2 emissions. A comprehensive energy efficiency analysis was made in cooperation with the company Keest, which enabled us to identify considerable savings potential.
A central element of these measures was the implementation of waste heat utilisation from air compressors. In 2022, this resulted in savings of over 6,000 m³ of gas and 66,000 kWh of energy, which corresponds to a reduction of about 10 tonnes of CO2 emissions. This heat recovery system enables our yellow coating plant to operate all year round.
In addition to converting the fluorescent tubes to LED tubes, Hawle Armaturen AG has recently invested in a high-performance photovoltaic installation with an output of 350 kWp/a, which was installed on the roof of the high-bay warehouse. A high level of self-consumption is achieved with 800 PV modules, so that about 75% of the electrical energy demand of the production machines can be covered. This measure not only helps to reduce energy costs, but also makes us less dependent on rising electricity prices and enables more precise planning of energy costs.
The Universal Objective Agreement signed with act (Cleantech Agency) ensures that the measures for increasing energy efficiency and reducing CO2 emissions are systematically monitored and optimised. Hawle Armaturen AG thus fulfils all the requirements of the bulk consumer article in the Canton of Thurgau and establishes itself as a responsible company in the field of sustainable energy use.
Quality and safety for the future.
Hawle Armaturen AG attaches great importance to quality and safety and is therefore certified in accordance with the international standards ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001 and ISO 3834-2 .
